About Dequiana Brooks
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Inspired Graphics Media web site! I’ve been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. I was one of those girls who made friendship bracelets in elementary school, but instead of giving them away for free, I sold them for at least fifty cents a bracelet. I’d spend my afternoons drawing homemade holiday cards with my friends and convincing them to walk door-to-door with me and sell them to the neighbors. This passion for small business lead me to open up my own marketing strategy and design company, Inspired Graphics Media (http://www.inspiredmedia.net), in 2003. I noticed that most of my clients did not have much experience with business and were making common mistakes like entering into deals with no contracts, trying to market to everyone and not using technology to the fullest. I was inspired to write the blog after starting an MBA program at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 2005. I was learning so much about business, and I wanted to find a way to share that knowledge with the African-American small business community. I’ve always enjoyed writing and technology, so a blog was the way to go. I posted my first article on Entrepreneur Resources: A Small Business blog (http://www.entrepreneur-resources.net) in December 2005.
I received my MBA in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Behavior from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 2007 and spent almost 3 years in brand management at a large consumer packaged goods company. Now, I am back to full-time entrepreneurship and am eager to use my experience to take your business to the next level!
